Walter R Karstens, 74, of Silvis, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. 
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Friday, June 17, 2022 at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111-1st St A, Moline. Visitation will be 4-6pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island with military honors by American Legion, Post 246, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to American Heart Association. 
Walter was born March 5, 1948 in Moline, the son of Charles and Barbara (Day) Karstens. He married Judy Dahlberg. He then married Lorain Cunningham on April 3, 1992 in Moline. 
Walter was a 1966 Graduate of Moline High School. He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. 
Walter worked for the State of Illinois and later owned and operated Casey’s Tavern, Moline with his wife Lorain until December 2021.  
Walter enjoyed traveling, boating and wintering in Florida but most of all he loved spending time with his family.  
Survivors include his wife, Lorain; children, Alan (Pamela) Cullor, Moline, Aaron Cullor, Moline, Bridgit (Dann) Schmidt, Apex NC, Tina (Casey) Lukowicz, Moline and Nicole Salinas, Moline; grandchildren, Liam, Harlow, Landon, Avery, Nicolas , Henna, Melissa, Meghin, Abby, Austin and Gabby and sisters, Denise Mullens, Moline and Dee Karstens, Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Herb Mullens.
