Sylvester “Skip” Raymond Roggenbauer Jr., 57, of Vermillion SD passed away surrounded by his family at Avera Mckennan Hospital in Sioux Falls on Monday, December 12, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Hansen Funeral Home-Vermillion beginning at 10:00AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior.

Sylvester “Skip” Roggenbauer was born in Marshfield, WI to Sylvester and Ailene (Rennert) Roggenbauer on July 13, 1965. Skip attended Moline High School, where he graduated in 1983. Following high school, he enlisted into the Air Force for 4 years. Upon his return he started his work in the Meat Industry. During which time he married the love of his life Angela Martinez in Davenport, IA on April 8, 1989, and to this union were born three sons, Sylvester “Bo” , Ryan, and Daniel. With supreme work ethic and unwavering integrity he progressed through life as a father, husband and leader. He finally found his way to Vermillion, SD where he enjoyed his remaining days at Tyson. Where he was blessed with 2 grandchildren Sora and Elaina Roggenbauer, and two more on the way.
 

To Skip, nothing was more important than his family. His family values extended into all of those around him. From teaching kids how to hunt and fish to coaching and directing the Westside Wolverines football program, and to his coworkers and peers. He was a guiding light that all could look to as an example of the highest of human values. His life and teachings inspired all those who he came into contact with. Of his hobbies, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the Packers smash the Bears. When he wasn’t in nature, he enjoyed tuning his gear for the next time out. He absolutely loved taking his grandkids out to pass on his love of the outdoors.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Angela Roggenbauer of Vermillion, SD; children Bo Roggenbauer; Ryan (Jamie); and Daniel (Victoria) Roggenbauer with Elaina and Sora; sister Christina (Matt) Griffin with Joel and Adara, brothers Al (Jan) Kennedy with Dallas, Sandy (Julie) Kennedy with Jenny, Val and Lance, Jim (Barb) Roggenbauer with Eric, Rachel, Jimmy and Becky, Ron (Robbin) Roggenbauer with Daniella, Jared, Brandon and Jamie;

Skip was preceded in death by his parents Sylvester and Ailene Roggenbauer, and his brother Joe.
