It was with great saddness that I learned of the passing of my chilhood and lifelong friend Danny Hakeman.  We spent our early youth in our old neighborhood playing pick up games in baseball and football, riding bikes, camping out, and having fun with all of the other neighborhood kids.    At Wilson we were not only teammates in sports but Danny and I raised and lowered the outside American flag every day for three years.   In high school we still hung out together but our time together shifted to working on each others muscle cars.  I'm so glad we were able to reconnect at our 50th reunion celebration.  God speed on your newest journey my friend.

Dan, you were the best friend anyone could ask for...you would give whatever you could to help someone in need.  I will never forget when you hung out with me on my wedding night because Tom had too much to drink.  You and Tom were like brothers and now I hope you found each other in your other life❤️

I grew up right next door to "Danny".  As little kids we sometimes flashed "Morse Code" messages (very high-tech!) between our bedroom windows.  Even though he could be a rough and tumble little stinker, at the same time he was such a kind little gentleman.  I knew he'd always have my back.  Thanks for the memories, Dan.

I was so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. We hung out with the same crowd back in the day - Tom and Barb (Gramkow) Hamilton, Carole Smith and others. He was so sweet and funny!  I reconnected with him at our 40th class reunion, where he shared his love for his family and health struggles. I'm happy he relocated to be close to his kids. Godspeed, Dan.
