IN MEMORY

Wayne McPeak

Vernon Wayne McPeak
12-31-46 ~ 7-15-2021

Obituary

"Our times together are my most treasured memories." Those memories and the man loved by his families and friends will live on in our hearts. Vernon Wayne McPeak left this earthly life on July 15, 2021. He was the son of V.L. and Ruth McPeak born on December 31, 1946. He always loved that the world celebrated his birthday on New Year's Eve.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sue Pittman McPeak, his son Spencer Wayne McPeak and wife Amanda McPeak of San Angelo, Texas; sister Linda McPeak Strickland and husband Duane of Crane, Texas; sister Carol McPeak Boggs and husband Donald of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren Kami Dawn McPeak, Taiten McPeak, Mason McPeak and Jackson McPeak all of San Angelo, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother David Lee McPeak. His beloved pet Dolly crossed the rainbow bridge two weeks before him and is no doubt kicked back in a heavenly recliner.
Wayne will be missed by sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews as well as many lifelong friends.
Wayne was a longtime resident of Monahans, Texas where he was active in community organizations, was a Lobo athlete, and 1965 graduate of Monahans High School. He attended Texas Tech University as a member of the Red Raider football team and served his country in the US Army and was a Viet Nam Veteran.
He retired from Southwest Marketers in Fort Stockton, Texas, in 2007 and moved to San Angelo where he enjoyed spending time with Spencer and Amanda, grandchildren, and their many friends in Grape Creek.
Wayne was an avid reader and enjoyed a wide genre of authors and topics. He played many years of golf in Monahans and Fort Stockton playing tournaments around West Texas and The Big Bend. He felt his greatest achievement was his family.  He was adamant in his support of his family, friends and others and quietly went about putting their needs first.

As Wayne always said in parting...."Say Goodbye, Sue."

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 2:00 pm at
Pioneer Chapel in Grape Creek, Texas. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
Donations can be mailed securely to:

Sue, I was so very saddened to hear of Wayne's passing.  Wayne was an outstanding

human being.  I so enjoyed being one of his fellow classmates.  He was one of the great

ones.  I will keep you and your family in my prayers as you navigate this very difficult time.

I know you and Wayne had 55 plus wonderful years, but as my Mother said after Dad passed

after 64 years, "it is never enough".

Love,

Binnie

The first thing that comes to mind about Wayne, was he was always smiling.  He was a really fine man & I know he will be missed by all of you every day.

Dear Sue,

A wise person said shared sorrow is half a sorrow.  As many of us share in your sorrow, I hope that the pain of your loss is lessened. He will be missed, but remembered as someone who left the world a better place for having been here.  Remember, too, that shared joy is a double joy.  Share the memories of the joyous times you had with Wayne.

Sincerely,

Sharon

Wayne was such a special guy! Although he was very popular, he never failed to be a friend to all and make them feel special with that big old grin of his. He always made you feel like one of his best friends. I know his family, especially Sue will never stop missing him and all of us old Loboes will too! So very sad to lose such a wonderful friend.
