Jerry Lewis

Ben's death has a profoundly personal aspect to me.  Losing him will hurt for a long, long time. Because . . . every time Ben came into my presence, he made me happy.  Not some of the times, not most of the times, but every, single time. How many people can you say that about?  He ALWAYS smiled at me.. He ALWAYS made me feel he was genuinely happy to see me. I never thought I was acting as good a friend to him as he was to me.  Ben brought brightness into my life, something that's going to be hard to replace just by his memory, alone.   Only the virus prevents my coming to his funeral; but I promise the family who loved him, I will be grieving with you.

I second Jerry Lewis’s words , when Ben was around , one felt good . I too have many memories which date all the way back to when we met in the Sixth Grade at Sudderth Elementary. We were classmates, played football together and best of all were friends. We even went into the Air Force at the same time. I will miss his friendly words and smiling face . But I shall carry forth his memory . My deepest condolences go out to his family as I know he was well loved ! He’s definitely got a home in Heaven because good people go to Heaven and Ben was the Best !

Ben was one of the good guys. Always smiling and always so proud of his family.  In recent years, we saw each other at the annual performance of The Nutcracker.  His granddaughter was a dancer and my granddaughter was in the audience.  I looked forward to seeing him each year.  My prayers are with his beloved family.  Go with God, my friend.

My prayers are with Ben's family.   All his facebook posts the last years were of being with his beloved grandgirls!   Ben was truly a man of God----and it showed as he was always a ray of sunshine to all of us.

Ben was a special father, a proud papa and a good friend to many. We sometimes joked that were "kin" because his mom and I shared the same maiden name "Flores".  May his family take comfort in knowing he was always thinking of  them and loved each one dearly.

I will miss you Ben Salazar.

Vaya con dios my friend.

Well, Ben will be truly missed by all his friends, that's for sure. It's been awhile since my husband Fred and I saw him. It was at the mall in Odessa and he had his granddaughter with him. He was truly proud of his granddaughters and of course his daughter and son. We got to catch up with him and had a good chat. We will always remember him as part of the northside neighborhood when we were growing up. We were all a big family then and remember all the good times we used to have playing kick the can and other childhood games. He was loved by all of us in the neighborhood. Those were good and fun times. He will be missed by all and we wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family and know that by "all" I mean his neighborhood family and friends will never forget him. Stay strong and God Bless.

 Rest in Peace Ben

I met Ben the same time Mike did, at Sudderth Elementary, when all us Wickett kids had to start riding the bus. He was already pretty proficient on the cornet. Like Jerry, I always found a friendly smile on Ben's face. Ben always found the good in us all. He was a good man, who brightened the world with his goodwill. He will be missed. Sherilyn and I offer our deepest sympathy to Ben's family. May the God of all comfort minister to you in this time of loss.

Ben was truly one of the good guys.  He was always smiling. Our prayers & deepest sympathies go out to all his family.  I was also one of the Wickett kids bused to Sudderth Elementary in the 6th grade, and this was where I met Ben.  He was always a good friend, and I was in band with him for 4 years.  Lots of fun on the band trips.  He will be greatly missed, and it was a great honor to call him my friend.
