  Jesse William 'Bill' Suber
  October 18, 1947 - December 10, 2013

Jesse William Suber was born in Rusk County, Texas to Jesse Overton Suber and Mary Ruth Heath Suber.  The Suber's were long time residents of Rusk County and the city of Tyler, and as did his parents, Bill returned to his roots for the last few years of his life.  Bill made this comment on his profile about his family's residence over the years...
"Though I was born in Texas, my dad worked for Gulf so we had to move to deep into MS when I was four. I got to Monahans the second six-weeks of the eighth grade. It took a while to fit in but I had a great time from our Sophomore year on."

While at MHS, Bill participated in the Science Club and 'M' Club as a Sophomore; Spanish Club and the Class Play his Junior year; ran Track his Freshman and Sophomore year, and was a Football Student Trainer all four years.

Bill's experiences at MHS led to a life long interest and a career in the Medical Field.   Getting there was a lifetime goal/adventure and a story that only Bill could tell...which he did as a
'Featured Sixty-fiver for OnThe Road ToOur 50th'.

Bill's Spotlight was a 'Record Breaking Event' here on the MHS Website
with over 60 visitors in one day.
Bill joined our MHS Website in August 2010 and immediately became a major memory contributor in TheEdgerton Forum with his stories of 'Draggin The Dingo'...read those HERE.
A Memorial Service was held for Bill on Sunday, December 15th, in Tyler, Texas.
Preceeding him in death were his parents Jesse O. Suber in 1984 and Mary Suber in 1981.
Both are buried at Goodsprings Duncan Cemetery in Good Springs, Rusk County, Texas.
Bill is survived by his sister Sharon Suber Bretzin, MHS Class of 1969.

Lying in a hospital bed in Japan in the middle of a series of operations for a severe head wound, I was told: "someone from your home town is here to see you..."  Bill was a medic in the hospital and someone had told him a guy from Monahans, Texas had been brought in with a bad head wound.  We had not really known each other in school since he was a year ahead, but that didn't matter to him.  He came to visit me and made it a point to check on me as the surgeons worked their magic.  Much of that time is a blur now, a half-remembered dream:  but I will never forget that he cared.  He kept me focused on the future at a time when most weren't sure I had one.  He promised to show me around (as soon as I was disconnected from all those tubes), but the Special Forces camps got hit and I slipped aboard the flight taking those who were able back to Vietnam.  I never saw him again and never got a chance to thank him...Thanks Bill...wish I could have been there for you.

Bill Suber was married to my sister Pam for seventeen years, and became like a brother to me. We remained friends after they divorced. He taught me how to turn a burp into a sentence, lol. He had his ups and downs in life, but he always bounced back, and in a big way. He made friends everywhere he went, and was always regarded as a "mensch." He was always there with a helping hand when needed, and was absolutely adored by all who knew him. Most of all, I am grateful that he spurred a competition with my ex-fiance. Bill was a gourmet cook and wine afficanado, and my fiance became determined to outdo him in both categories. He made us all better cooks in the process, but try as I might, I will  never outdo him. Someday in the future (I will have to save up for it), I intend to raise a glass of a vintage Heitz Martha's Vineyard Cabernet in his honor.
