Terry's Story

JOPLIN, Mo. — Terry K. Geisz, age 59, of Joplin, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in Woodson Terrace, Mo., following a sudden illness. Terry was born April 22, 1949 in Shelbyville, Ill. He moved to Joplin in 1996, from St. Charles, Ill. Terry was the engineering manager for LaBarge Inc., where he worked for over 10 years. Terry attended Blackhawk Community College in Illinois, and graduated from Bradley University with an engineering degree. He was a member of the College Heights Christian Church, the N.R.A. and the Missouri Cattleman’s Association. Terry married Linda Bates Oct. 27, 1996, in Joplin. She survives. Additional survivors include one son, Dan Geisz and wife, Danielle, Carl Junction, Mo.; one daughter, Tina Schmidt and husband, Brian, Carl Junction; one stepdaughter, Kimberly Sawyer and husband, Darin, Gloucester, Mass.; one brother, Stan Geisz and wife, Jan, Washington, Ill.; five grandchildren, Tristina and Victoria Schmidt, Drayton, Calvin and Zarinna Sawyer and baby girl Geisz on the way. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the College Heights Christian Church Chapel with Jay St. Clair and Randy Gariss, Ministers, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Memorial contributions are requested to the College Heights Christian Church or Soul’s Harbor Mission in care of the Mortuary.
