Mark E Johnson

Mark E. Johnson, age 62, of Monmouth, passed away at 10:35 am on Wednesday February 1, 2012 at Monmouth Nursing Home. Mark was born October 26, 1949 in Monmouth, and is the son of Edward E. and Marjorie Morford Johnson. He was raised in Monmouth where he attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1967. After high school Mark joined the National Guard with the 123rd Field Artillery in Monmouth and served six years and was also employed at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, for a number of years. In 1974 he was employed at Sears in sales, for a short time before beginning work with Galesburg Builders Supply where he operated unit # 313 Cement Truck for 34 years until his retirement in 2010. Mark is a member of the local Teamsters Union. Mark also loved to play softball, third base, playing pool and cards, and the game of golf. He formerly was a member and past exalted ruler of Monmouth BPOE, and a member of the Monmouth Jaycees. He was known to be an avid Green Bay Packers fan and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Surviving is his biological son Robb Ballard of Indianapolis, IN, one daughter Tricia Johnson of Galesburg, Illinois, and two grandchildren. He has two sisters, Sandra (Albie) Huff and Kathy (Jerry) Glasgow, and one brother Kyle Johnson all of Monmouth, and a half sister Tammy (Dan) Keegan of Geneseo, Illinois. Also surviving are four nieces; Kristin Hallahan (Paul) of Chicago, Ill., Mary Huff of Monmouth, Jenny Frazier (Dusty) of Galesburg, Ill., Sara Burlingame (Tim) of Pekin, Ill., and one nephew Brian Glasgow (Debbie) of Monmouth. Mark is preceded in his death by his parents and grandparents.

Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday February 10, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth; with interment in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. His family plans visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. As per Mark's request and in lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is established for OSF Holy Family Cardiac Rehab Center in Monmouth.
