Alan was one of the best additions to our class! I remember him well. My thoughts are with Peggy and Gordon and I hope wonderful memories will help to fill the empty place in their hearts and those of all his family and friends.

Alan was one of the best ever. We had many a night of fun in MHS and after we  graduated. Never saw eye e eye on politics, but always could talk. I'll miss him very, very much. My condolences to Penny... she'll pull through OK but will miss one of the best highlights of her life, Alan. R.I.P.

The Shurtleff family lived on Woodmont Road in Montclair, where there was a park with a pond where we played as kids and I believe there was a golf course also there before they built all the houses. That goes back many years for me. Regards to the family.

I always liked Alan and enjoyed a friendship with him for several years after school. I think we must have shared the same sensibilities in a way. My condolences to his family.
