Bud Phelps

Harold Bartle Phelps III, a custom woodworker who lived in Seaside for the past five years, died Thursday at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. He was 49. Born at Camp Pendleton on May 30, 1951 he moved to Monterey 44 years ago.
Mr. Phelps, who was known as Bud, who was a 1969 graduate of Monterey High School. He studied electronics at Monterey Peninsula College before becoming a cabinet maker. Mr. Phelps made custom cabinets, furniture and display fixtures for art galleries in Monterey and San Francisco.
He is survived by his partner in life Cheryl Rowe; his parents, Annabeth Phelps of Monterey and Harold Phelps Jr. of Santa Maria; and a brother Brian Phelps of Livermore. A private memorial service will be held. The Neptune Society was in charge of cremation.

His ashes are to be scattered from the Bixby Creek Bridge on Highway 1 near Big Sur, 23 miles south of Monterey.
