Joan entered into rest on September 17th, 2002 at 7:05 am in Hackettstown Regional Medical Center after a 10 1/2 year battle with breast cancer. She was 45 years old. They have since named the new Cancer Center at that hospital The Joan Knechel Cancer Center. My heart aches every day with the loss of my closest sister. ~ Ann Lukcas Davison
I remember thinking the Lukacs family were so cool-smart, athletic, handsome. Kind of Walden's version of The Kennedy's. Joan was every bit of that. She had a great sense of humor and I enjoyed knowing her. What a warrior she was, with a long, strong battle. I was truly saddened to read on the Association website that she'd gone.
