Dr. Richard Bastiano - Class Of 1943

Formerly of Maybrook, N.Y.

Dr. Richard Bastiano of Endicott, N.Y., passed away at Wilson Memorial Hospital on August 14, 2006.

The son of the late Antonio and Amelia Bastiano, Dick was born in Maybrook N.Y. on December 23, 1924.

Dr. Bastiano served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Kermit Roosevelt. He graduated second in his class from the Georgetown University School of Dentistry and practiced in Endicott for almost 30 years.

He was a founding partner of Valley Dental Group and served as the president of the Broome County Dental Association. He was also elected President of the investment club, the Endicott Lions Club, and the Forest Lake Cottage Owners Association.

Dick was an avid golfer and member of En-joie Golf Course. He also spent much of his time designing and creating jewelry, which he gave generously to his friends and family.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy; his children: Janice Delles and her husband, Ron, of Pittsford, N.Y., Dr. Richard Bastiano, Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Elba, N.Y., Anne McGlochlin and her husband, Scott, of Arvada, Colo., and Nancy Smith of Denver, Colo. He is also survived by grandchildren: Kelly Elliott and husband, David of Victor, N.Y., Lisa Sferrazza of Denver, Colo., Andrew and Aaron Bastiano of Elba, N.Y., and Dustin and Jared McGlochlin of Arvada, Colo. He is further survived by one brother, Eugene Bastiano of Pompano Beach, Fla.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Fred and Lorenzo Bastiano, and one sister, Lola Russel.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 8, 2006 at 9 a.m. at Church of the Assumption, Route 207 Homestead Ave., Maybrook, N.Y.
