Galen R. Heeren

November 21, 1970 - July 25, 1999

 

Galen R. Heeren of Monticello died Sunday, July 25, 1999 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from injuries received in an auto accident.

Galen Heeren was born November 21, 1970 at Anamosa, the son of Raymond and Mary Jayne Heeren.  He graduated from the Monticello High School in 1989.  He then attended Iowa State University, Ames, and received his Associate Degree in Ag Services from Kirkwood.  He had been emplyed at Ertl Toy, Fawn Creek Country Club, and Cascade Die Mold.  He was currently employed at the Gadient Dairy Farm and helping his dad farm.

Heeren was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he was baptized on December 27, 1970 and confirmed his faith on May 5, 1985.  He had been active in 4-H and FFA.

Surviving are his parents, Ray and Mary Heeren of Monticello, two brothers, Dan Heeren of Monticello and Mike (Amy) Heeren of Cedar Falls; a niece, Jessica Heeren and a goddaughter, Kati Martensen; his grandmothers, Louella Heeren of Monticello, and Frances Jayne of Morley.

Preceeding him in death were his grandfathers, Raymond Jayne and Albert Heeren, and an uncle, Glen Heeren.

Galen was the best! So many people picked on him but he just let it slide. Many of you never knew him that well. He was a great friend and my daughter Katelyn's godfather.

Monticello is at a loss without you Galen.

Such a tragic loss. Like the Randy Travis song "Angels Among Us" added to his memorial page. Brings tears to my eyes.
