Dave Govito, grandson of my longtime piano teacher, was killed in 2003 outside a bar in or near San Diego.

As I recall (and this is hearsay, relayed from his mother to my mother to me) a drunk who had been tossed from the bar began abusing a woman in some manner. Dave attempted to intervene, was dealt a vicious blow, hit his head hard on the pavement, and died a few days later.

He was a really nice guy...even in high school.

I didn"t know that David passed until his mother became my support person when my mom died. David was in the millitary in Cal. David died as a hero protecting a stranger. This women was being abused by her drunk male friend. When his mom told me the story about him I was not surprised that he was serving our Country & died helping someone. His mom  became my support person through the "Gift of Life". His mom told me how she donated his organs. David help so many people in thisworld and still  alive in them!! She helped me through the proccess and made it so less stressfull( since I was due to have a baby any day and I was next to kin). I wasn't close or had any real connection to David in High School. Knowing that a MAN/ HERO came from our class died with such CLASS & RESPECT makes me very proud to call him "classmate". Thank You David for protecting our country and for saving all those lives !!!!!!!!!!!!

In His Name,

Candace
