Thanks for compliments on the site...I'm obviously still working on it, but I wanted to hurry up and start getting the word out. We have a little more than 6 months before our reunion!

More updates to the web site will be coming...I'll keep everyone posted.

Travis, I totally agree that you have made an awesome website. I always wondered if something like this existed. It sure brings back memories for me since I was deployed during the 10 year reunion. I hope to be home for this one. One comment about the date, as I recognize this because I am in the service, but do you realize the start date is 9/11. The day the twin towners went down. It will be another memorial day for the class of 1989. Thanks again!

Awesome job with the site! I am looking forward to the reunion and seeing some familiar faces while catching up on the last 20 years. THAT IS SO HARD TO BELIEVE 20 YEARS!! Let me know what I can do to help with the actual organization/planning of the reunion on this end. Thanks for all you've done!!

Thanks to all for taking part in the site. Once we have a good number of people "registered" on the site, I'll send out a message asking for volunteers to help with the reunion preparation plans. There will plenty to do to make it a success!

Q: Why is my name now listed as "Missing" when previously, it was not?

A: If I had an address or email address listed for you in my records, I entered it in those graduates' Profiles, and a green check was shown next to your name. But because I couldn't be certain whether the contact info was correct, I'm asking all grads to login and update your Profile info. After updating your profile, you'll no longer be considered "Missing"!

Travis, thanks for making this happen! It looks great and if there's anything I can do to help, just ask...

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the reunion this September. It is ironic that until I joined this reunion website this year that I had no idea that I was even living close to so many of you while residing in Raleigh about six years ago. With much luck next summer my family will reside close yet again.

For those attending, please have a safe trip to and from and enjoy yourself a good time.

Hi Travis,

Unfortunately I did not get to attend the reunion. I hope everyone had a great time! I hope to make it to the next one.

Do you have any pictures you could post?

Thanks!

Hello fellow WCHS Class of 1989 classmates!!!

I hadn't checked my Facebook account in forever, but I heard there has been some chatter about classmates asking about our 30-year high school reunion. I apologize that I haven’t sent out anything sooner, but I had an extremely crazy summer. (No excuse...I’m sure we ALL have crazy busy lives.) I am a Facebook Neanderthal, but I just joined this “West Carteret High School Class of 1989” Facebook Group that someone created. I'm not sure who created it, but thanks!!! I figured Facebook was a good place to start getting in contact with people.  But I am also going to start updating info here at www.wchs1989.com.

In years past, some classes have held their reunions the weekend after Labor Day. It’s nice because the weather & water are usually still warm to be able to enjoy the beach. When classmates have asked about potential reunion weekends in the past, I have thrown out this idea. Friends from other classes tend to have “informal reunions” that weekend as well. But that is a very short time away, and that may be way too fast to get a whole lot organized. And that may be difficult for the out-of-towners who would need plan to travel. I texted John McLean this morning and am waiting to hear back from him. If anyone is interested in helping to organize/plan something, please let us know.

Again, I apologize for not getting on this sooner. But please provide some input regarding the “weekend after Labor Day” potential reunion weekend versus something a little later in the year. I know that we may never be able to accommodate everyone’s schedules, but it’d be nice to hear from as many people as possible.

Thoughts and input?

There has been discussion about the possibility of holding our 30-year high school reunion on the weekend of the WCHS homecoming football game, which is Friday, October 25th (versus White Oak).  There's a lot going on that weekend at WCHS.  A home soccer match is scheduled for Thursday, October 24th and volleyball playoffs begin on Saturday, October 26th.  (Hopefully the playoffs will be held at WCHS!)

We don't yet have any specific events scheduled for that weekend, but I'm curious to know if this sounds like a good weekend...

Thanks for your email Travis! I am not on Facebook but please keep us posted. I vote for the October weekend to give some time to arrange days off and travel. It will be great to see everyone!

Our 30-year high school reunion will be held the weekend of the WCHS homecoming football game, which is Friday, October 25th (versus White Oak). The game starts at 7pm.

On Saturday, October 26th we have the second floor of Jack's reserved starting at 9pm.  No tickets to purchase, no extravagant ceremony...just a place and time for everyone to meet and enjoy seeing each other after all these years.  Classmates are welcome to eat dinner at Jack’s before we have it reserved at 9pm, but you can also eat at any of the other great surrounding restaurants.

I look forward to seeing a bunch of classmates!

Travis

I had wondered whether classmates might want to meet during the day on Saturday (11:00am???) One option could be to meet at the A.B. Circle, down near the beach. There are picnic tables, playground equipment and volleyball nets. And hopefully Idle Hour and/or some other restaurants will be open. I'll check with Trace. Otherwise, people can grabs food from SubTropics or wherever else. (I may not be able to attend the daytime event if I travel to see my daughter's volleyball playoff game.)

Pleaes use the website (www.wchs1989.com) to let us know whether you're coming to any reunion events.   (Click on the link for "30-Year Runion".)

Some classmates have expressed interest in hanging out during the day on Saturday.  So I've added a "Saturday at the Circle" event for anyone who is interested.  I may not be able to attend that event, but I suggested an 11:00am meeting time, for interested classmates.  People can gather in the park area between Davis Beachwear and the Tackle Box Tavern, or venture over to the volleyball courts. Additional parking is available at the Circle Regional Beach Access next to the Crab's Claw (201 W Atlantic Blvd).
