Walter Jr Shelton

Walter Otis Shelton Jr., 68, of Fountaintown died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born July 22, 1940, in Rushville, he was the son of Walter Sr. and Goldie (Vail) Shelton. He married Karen Ann Amos on Oct. 12, 1963, in Fountaintown, and she survives. Other survivors include his sons, Dr. Jeffery Bryan (wife, Brenda) Shelton and Jason Scott (girlfriend, Sherry) Shelton, both of Shelbyville; brother, Michael D. Shelton of Osgood; and grandchildren, Tyler Shelton and Kyle Shelton. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Ruth (Fix) Shelton.

Mr. Shelton was a tool and die maker for Western Electric for 29 years, retiring in 1993. He opened S&S Engineering in 1995 with his son, Jason, and ran it out of his home.He graduated from Morristown High School in 1958 and attended trade school, where he received an associate's degree.Mr. Shelton was a member of the National Rifle Association and was a trustee at Fairview United Methodist Church.He loved to hunt and trapshoot and loved his dog, Jenny.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Erlewein Mortuary, 1484 W. Highway 40, Greenfield. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the mortuary, with Pastor Johnny Lee Sanders officiating. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery.
