[From 50th Reunion Yearbook...]
Retired Air Force Lt. Col. with 24 years of service, Command Pilot (5700 hours of flying time), multiple staff positions in Operations and Personnel, general contractor and currently part-time supervisor for a custom home builder
BA Hobart 1961, Command and Staff College 1975
Married for thirty years to Melba Sluder, three children from first marriage (Carl III age 43, Ingrid age 41 and Lisa age 36) and seven grandchildren
My most important experience at Mt. Hermon was the participation in all the music programs and concerts and the association with Al Raymond. This was a great foundation to continue a robust music experience at Hobart College where I majored in music. My participation in music was interrupted by an AF career and sailing on our Pearson 323. I re-entered music after a thirty year hiatus by performing in the Mozart Requiem in 1991 under the direction of Professor Lindsay Lafford (my professor of Music) in Coral Gables, Florida. My participation continues in Episcopal Church choirs. One year ago we sold our sailboat and waterfront home in Kinsale, Virginia, and moved to Sarasota. We are so happy here and are able to enjoy the rich culture of Sarasota and the proximity to everything one could want or need. We are avid cruisers and will celebrate Melba’s 60th birthday while rounding Cape Horn en route to Buenos Aries. We are members of St. Boniface Episcopal Church on Siesta Key where I sing in the choir (25-40 singers strong).
Life is good and we have much to be thankful for. I hope to attend the 50th reunion and re-connect with my classmates.
