School Story:
[From 50th Reunion Yearbook...]
Phebe Townsend Banta sent this memory of Phoebe Roberts in for our yearbook:
Phoebe was my close friend and Senior year roommate. We had so much fun in the West Marquand basement room, and we never mixed up Phebe (no "o") and Phoebe. We could always be found at any illegal after lights out gathering.
She went to the University of Michigan. We were close through college and went to each other's weddings. Last I saw her was a baby shower for her daughter-to-be in Madison, CT. She was later divorced.
The years went by. We lost touch. One night I was shocked to read in the Alumnae magazine that she had died! I called an old number that I had, and that daughter, now a college senior, answered. The daughter said she often spoke of me and the good times we had, but hadn't felt well enough, due to cancer, to contact me for several years. She was in her mid-forties. How sad.
