A letter from Taffy’s sister, Marjorie Anne Taft Favor (Annie) annefavor@cox.net:

I am pleased to tell you a little about Taffy, First the photos: Taffy and her daughter Tracy a few years before her death. Recent photo of son John with his 2 daughters (Nina '98 and Sarah) in new tie-dye outfits. John with his wife, Annie, who is of Malaysian descent. The three little boys are Tracy's sons Zach '99, Luke '01, and Ayden '04.

After leaving Northfield, Taffy went to Dickinson College graduating Phi Beta Kappa in math in only three years. She had several jobs including actuary-in-training at Met Life before becoming a full-time mother in 1965.

In the early 1980's Taffy went back to work and quickly discovered an aptitude for programming. She went to work for her brother, Robert Taft (Mt. Hermon '56), and together they wrote "Easy Link," for Western Union, one of the first internet programs. Years later, Western Union sold the program to AT&T, and it was used world-wide. Taffy also did contracts for other important firms such as NBC before leaving her brother's firm to maintain and improve Easy Link for Western Union near her home in Ramsey, NJ.

After her divorce, Taffy moved to Fairfield, Iowa, in August, 1989, with her son John. She worked for Fairfield Software and devoted herself to Transcendental Meditation at nearby Maharishi University until her tragic death from a car accident early in 1993.

With her death at only 52, Taffy never got to meet John's wife, Annie, although she did know Tracy's husband, Anthony. She didn't see either of her children marry nor any of her beautiful grandchildren. She is greatly missed by all of us, especially me, her sister, Annie Favor (Northfield 1961).
