CHARLOTTE, N.C. Police say a woman and her two adult daughters died when their van crossed three lanes on Interstate 85 in Guilford County and collided with a truck.
The Charlotte Observer reported that the women died Saturday about 10:50 a.m. The Highway Patrol identified the victims as 57-year-old Diane Brooks, 28-year-old Hadiya Brooks and 37-year-old Angelique Brooks, all of Charlotte.
Hadiya Brook's two children were in child safety seats and didn't sustain serious injuries when the van was hit by a truck hauling 44,000 pounds of fruit. The truck driver won't be charged.
Trooper J.D. Goodnight said the women apparently were on their way from Charlotte to Raleigh. The trooper said it wasn't known why the van crossed the traffic lanes.

If you didn't know me and Angie were 1st cousins and growing up we spent a lot of time together. We were the best of friends as well as cousins. All thru high school we shared a lot of fun times together. Hey do you remember after graduation going to carowinds and when I got off the bus I fell face first, I think Angie and I laughed about that for months. I will miss my cousin dearly. Please keep her precious twins in your thoughts and prayers.Cynthia Carr
Heaven has gained another Angel!!! Angie was one of my best friends in High School, and I was so looking forward to seeing her at the reunion. It tore my heart to read about this accident in the paper. We spent every morning together in Office Occupations class having our "daily discussions". What a wonderful, sweet, funny and loving person. I miss you Angie, but know you were loved!!!Sabrina Brooks
Angie was a dear friend to me. I remember days after school when she would ride the bus home with me and we would hang out until her mom would come and pick her up or my mom would take her home. We were friends from elementary school until her day of passing. I was so hurt and still in disbelief that she is no longer with us. I loved her like a sister and will never forget that big smile of hers. She was a true friend.Dwight McDowell
I remember Angie well. I send my regards to her family and special hug of comfort to Paulette. DwightShana York (Biggerstaff)
I didn't realize Angie had passed away until I logged onto this website. I could not believe it. What a shock.I saw Angie just a couple of months ago at the grocery store with her children.
I went to school with Angie from elementary all the way to high school. She always had a smile on her face. Her personality was genuine and fun. We would have so much fun laughing and just being silly. She was a wonderful friend and she will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Paulette and your Family.
