PORCARO, SHERRI ANGELA Age 28, of Saginaw, succumbed to fatal injuries sustained
in an auto accident Sunday, November 19, 2000. She was born March 1, 1972 in
Jacksonville, FL to John A. and Constance (Kersey) Porcaro. Sherri earned a
Bachelors Degree in Health Science from Western Michigan University this year;
and also earned an EMS Degree from Davenport College in Grand Rapids. She worked
for Life EMS in Grand Rapids for four years and moved to Saginaw six months ago.
She was currently employed by St. Mary s Hospital in Saginaw, and previously
worked as a paramedic in Tennessee and Texas. Sherri was a member of the Army
National Guard from 1992-1997. Her interests included arts and crafts, cooking,
hunting, firearms and physical fitness. Sherri enjoyed the company of people.
She had an outgoing personality and was compassionate and concerned for the
well-being of others. Sherri is survived by her fiance , Dr. Matthew S. Pestrue
of Saginaw, her parents, John A. and Mary A. Porcaro of Grand Haven, one sister,
Gina M. Porcaro of Shelby Twp., MI, her brother Joseph A. Porcaro of
Westminster, CO, a stepbrother, Steven E. Petricko of Grand Haven, many aunts,
uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1994 and
grandparents. The funeral service for Sherri will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at
VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. Anthony
Vainavicz officiating. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at
the funeral home. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Sherri had a great
passion for education, and in remembrance of that her family has established the
