Gemma and I had a wild time one night the summer after graduation. She picked me up at my parents' house and we went to Pit & Pub for a little something to eat and drink. Next stop was the 53 Drive-in where the movie had already started. I don't think we had the admission for one, much less two, so she suggested I get in the trunk, which I did, and she drove up to the gate. The person there told her that the movie had already started, and Gemma replied that she HAD to get in. The person at the gate, seeing she was alone, asked Gemma if she was looking for someone. Of course, she said yes and in we went. She found a spot and let me out of my hiding space. There we sat, the two of us (plus a few very flirtatious guys from a car nearby) watching "Invasion of the Bee Girls!" Years later Roger Ebert admitted that movie was one of his guilty pleasures. That evening was one of mine.
Gemma and I played doubles on the tennis team. My favorite memory was playing tennis under the lights at Lions Park on a warm spring night. When the lights went out we sat in the fragrant blooming crabapple tree and talked. Then we went to her house in her bedroom and blasted Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull.
