I was best friends with Tom from 5th grade thru 8th grade (we also were good friends with with Mike Moretti and Mark Keane). Tom and I stayed reasonbly close thru high school.
Tom was the definition of 'little big man' - he was wise and mature beyond his years. Had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He understood that in this life, everyday is a gift. He was born with an illness (cystic fibrosis) that should have taken him as an infant or toddler. He knew his time here was limited and lived a fuller life than most. He never spoke of it, and wouldn't take sympathy. He taught me so much about life thru his words and actions.
I remember Thomas from grade school. What I remember most for some reason was his voice. It had a different pitch to it, it was one of the things that made him unique. We are all truly blessed to have known him.
Tom and I suffered together through Calc. I at Harper College. He certainly made the course more interesting than it was! Math was both of our favorite subject - until that class! He was a kind, and funny, guy!
I didn't get to know Tom until my last couple years of high school, but I wish I could have known him much longer. He had a very quick wit that would always leave me laughing. Needless to say, we never got much studying done in study hall. Tom, you are missed.
