I was really touched when Mike Barone recounted how Mike R had taken in Al Carlstedt and cared for him until the end of his life. Who does that? I've often remembered it as an example of how we could care for each other.
I remember when Mike transferred in. Some of knew him from football practice and we were scandalized when he held a girl's hand at a Coke dance (back then was third date territory -- or that's what I'd heard). We advised him, "Maybe slow down, City guy" but he couldn't understand the uproar; he was a pioneer.
Oh, this makes me sad... I remember Mike so well from the Music Man Senior year. We cast from Football and what a wonderful decision that was. He was so upbeat, and funny! I will always remember his version of Shipoopi. Thank you for the smiles Mike.

Mike was a good guy. I hope he had a good life.

You’re right Susan, Mike did a great rendition of Shapoopi and he loved being in the Music Man . Found this photo of him in costume.
