Stephen passed away on March 26, 1993 in a car accident. He was 23 years old. Stephen was survived by two sons Stephen and Christopher.
Steve and I grew up in Mooreland and were part of Boy Scounts together. What I knew of Steve he was pretty quite but he was a very kind person. I remember when Steve stood for something you knew it.
I remember Driver's Ed. with Steve. We called him weed-wacker because he kept running the right side of the car off the road and would plaster fenders with all of the grass and weeds! We had a ton of fun and all got through okay, although we may have aged Dave Clark!
After graduation, I worked at Summit Lake over summer break from college. I worked third shift at the gate house. Stephen was a closer at McDonalds. After he got off work, he would get a couple cups of hot chocolate and come and sit with me. We would sit and talk about everything from politics and religion to sports and life in general.
We never solved any of the world's problems, but the fact that we slowed down for a bit to just sit and talk was therapeutic enough to keep us from slipping into the abyss of insanity.
Your right John, Stephen was a weed wacker and I was in that car with all you guys and I don't see how Mr.Clark could have ever passed him!! But anyway Stephen was a cool person and a lot of fun!
