I so admired Mike's ability to live and strive as if he didn't have obstacles.

The thing about Mike was that he was so funny. I just remember Vanessa Brotzge and Mike verbally sparing "Adjective!" "Adverb!" Miss you buddy!

I remember Mike signing my junior yearbook our senior year. He did it in many different colors. I also remember seeing him at UofL and he was always the same sweet Michael. He was definately someone we could all look up to and admire.

Michael became one of my best friends in high school, the "group" used to hang out regularly in jr and sr years. I thought Michael and I became closer in our college yrs. We seemed to have more of the same goals and focuses. But where would we be without those great parents of his! I miss Michael and his sesnse of humor, I think about him often and his willingness to pursue anything.

I miss Michael and think of him often. I first got to know Michael in first grade when his mom would bring him to school and then leave after lunch. He would call me in elementary school to come over for a "play date". I remember his room decorated in Star Wars. Michael was so funny and loved life. He lived it to the fullest and never let his limitations stop him. He definitely set an example that we all can follow.

I remember in elementary school, Mr. Carnes told all the students you couldn't do this or that with Michael because of his bone condition. I was kinda scared to even approach him. I believe that if I hadn't, it would have been a big mistake. Because when you talked to Michael...you didn't see his disability. He could do just as much as the next person. Inspiring for all of us.

I just wanted to direct everyone to Michael's profile. Scott Egan was kind enough to send an ink drawing that he did of Michael before he passed. It's great seeing a picture of Michael as well as Scott's talent!

Mike sat by me in Mr.Darling's freshman English class. I would hang my purse on the back of his wheelchair. One day I forgot to get it off and he wheeled down the hall with my purse hanging from his wheelchair. Funny the things we remember. Michael was great, always had a smile.
