Kelly A 26-year-old Salt Lake City man died and three others were injured Wednesday when the ski and snowboard ramp they were setting up in the Bismarck Civic Center's south parking lot touched an overhead power line.

Kelly Winn, who was pronounced de
ad at a local hospital, and the rest of the Max-Air Productions Inc. crew face danger every time they strap on their skis or snowboards and catapult from the world's largest portable jump ramp into an air-filled cushion or do big-air tricks on trampolines.

Five Max-Air crew members were setting up the approximately 50-foot-tall ramp - that folds down for transporting - when the accident happened at 5:22 p.m. The guard rail connected to the upper platform of the ramp touched an overhead power line causing approximately 7,200 volts of electricity to travel through the metal ramp that four crew members were holding. The fifth had just let go off the ladder, a move that may have saved his life. The base of the ladder was scorched and the asphalt underneath destroyed.
