Doing now that I never would have considered in HS

Just thought I would get this ball rolling...

Not exciting stuff with me...
- Never thought I would wear a polo shirt and I do that a few times a week, I was always a t-shirt and jeans guy...
- I did not get married until I was in my 30s thought I would have 5 kids by then...
- I lived in Chicago for years, thought I would stay in small town Iowa
- I teach, never thought I could pull that off
- I am a special ed teacher, I did not have any idea this existed beyond classes for the perm. 'wheel chaired' students

- I always said I wouldn't teach--then I did, for 10 years, and mostly loved it.
- I never thought I'd stay in eastern Iowa--but that's what happens when you fall in love with a die-hard Hawkeye.
- I never thought I'd drive a minivan, but I'm contemplating buying one.
- I never thought I'd get a Metallica tattoo. . . .

I would have lost a fortune betting against the Metallica tattoo. I was in the Navy for 8 years and never got a tattoo... Sondra is definitely tougher than I am.

At the age (and emotional, social, intellectual etc. maturity level) I was through high school, I swore I'd NEVER do the following:

Get a tattoo - I have many now.

Go bowling (don't ask why) - done it a few times and have nothing against it now.

Buy a motorcycle - still scared to death to ride one, but I dig them as objects (visual /aesthetique appeal) and appreciate their significant (as well as interesting interesting) cultural value.

Get married - happily so now.

Have kids - I now have THE most wonderful little boy living and growing with me in my little house with my wonderful wife and two fantastic felines.

Listen to Country music - been playing it professionally for the last 9 years and have made a great deal of money - as well as having had a great deal of fun - doing so.

Shave my head - all of my curly Jon Bon / Yngwie locks are gone for good, I'm afraid and it's skin only here, friends.

More? Yeah, probably, but what's the point? You get the idea; I grew up.
