I cannot believe that 20 years has gone by so fast. It seems like only yesterday that Bill Kearney, Andy Colony and I were in age group swimming, just like my kids are now.
After graduation, I attended Eastern Illinois University. At EIU, I was a member of the EIU Swimming Team from 1989-1993. I met my wife, Justine, at EIU. I graduated in 1993 with a degree in political science.
Justine and I moved to St. Louis that summer during the great flood of 1993. We got married in November of 1993, in Negril, Jamaica. For the next three years, I worked for several companies in the mortgage banking industry. In 1996, I decided to go back to school and obtain my law degree. I graduated from St. Louis University School of Law in December of 1999.
In November of 1999, we welcomed our first child, Jacob (9), to our family. Then two and one half years later to the day, our second child, Mia (6), was born. They are everything to us. Both children are very active and, like many of you, we are kept very busy with their numerous sporting and academic activities. Luckily, my wife is a P.E. teacher at the same school our children attend. So, she gets to keep an eye on them and out of trouble.
Professionally, I worked for a few different law firms over the years, but in November of 2008, I decided to branch out and start my own firm. My firm is called Butsch Simeri Fields LLC. The web-site is (www.bsflawfirm.com). So far, the experience of owning my own firm has been great, but very time-consuming and extremely nerve-racking.
I had planned on attending the reunion and was looking forward to seeing everyone again. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it.
