Richard Payne Obituary

Richard Payne, 77, of Muscatine, died Thursday, December 29, 2022 at his home.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2022 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2022 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.   A memorial has been established in Richard’s name at the funeral home.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Richard Allen Payne was born on March 27, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Earnest Edward and Nina Bernice (Isenberger) Payne.  Richard was a 1964 graduate of Des Moines East High and served in the Army reserves for six years.    He worked at the steel mill as a machinist, retiring in 2013.  He was a member of Muscatine Baptist Chapel.  He enjoyed bowling, working on cars and was a collector of model trains. 

Richard will be deeply missed by his wife, Barb of Muscatine; son, Nathan Payne of Muscatine; siblings, Bill Payne of Muscatine and Christine (Joe) Hilderth of Johnston, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Thelma Woodall of Nixa, Missouri, sister-in-law, Penny Miracle of Springfield, Missouri and brother-in-law, Todd (Sara) Woodall of South Daytona, Florida. 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bob (Lois) Payne and Judy Payne; father-in-law, Richard Woodall; brother-in-law, Mike Miracle and sister-in-law, Marian Payne.
