Karen Denise Goins Riggins, age 34, of Chattanooga, died Saturday May 20, 2006, in a local hospital. She was a native of Tuscumbia, Ala., and was a 1990 graduate of Muscle Shoals High School. She completed her B. S. in criminal justice from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1999. Karen was a member of First Baptist Church, of Chattanooga.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, T.E. Dixon and Edgar and Lucille Goins.
She is survived by her husband, Darryl Riggins; twin sons, Dawson McGwire and Dixon McClain Riggins, all of Chattanooga; mother, Linda Goins; father and stepmother, Jim and Kaye Goins all of Tuscumbia, Ala.; grandmother, Nona Dixon, of Sheffield, Ala.; one sister, Leslie Ann Goins, of Muscle Shoals; mother and father-in-law, Curtis and Lynda Riggins, of Watkinsville, Ga.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brian and Kellye Riggins, of Hotchton, Ga.; Kerry Lynn Riggins, of Athens, Ga.; Michael Riggins, of Marietta, Ga.; nephew, Wilkes Riggins, of Hotchton, Ga.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be today at 2:30 p.m. in East Brainerd Chapel, with Dr. Gary Carver officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-9 p.m. and today from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Taylor, Billy Bush, Ryan Bush, Terry Hampton, Blake Moon, Anthony Davis, Tony Dotson and Mel McBride.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Darryl Riggins Assistance Fund at McBride Merchandising Inc., 1010 Wyngate Parkway, Suite 101 Woodstock, GA 30189.
Arrangements are by East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 8214 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tenn.
