Leann and I had a friendly competition going on as to who could get the best quiz scores in Mr. Trost's general science class.  Our lockers were next to each other providing for easy friendly jousting.  Sophomore year we went to Homecoming together and  didn't do much after that except smile at each other in the hallway.  Junior year she approached me to try out for a part in a spring play.  Miss Katzor put her up to it.  I declined citing track as a conflict, the real reason being: I couldn't memorize very well and still can't! Chicken.

My parents picked me up in June 10 1968 after that year at the University of Wisconsin.  My mind was just wondering on the drive home when my mother that casually mentioned  that Leann and died.  I think the date in her bio on this site could be wrong, or may I'm wrong  The cause of death appeared to be a complication of the flu.

Sad story.

I can still remember the shock of hearing that Leann had died when she was a student at Carroll College.  We were in school together all 12 grades and I knew her well.

She was talented, in forensics and plays, but her health was delicate, apparently more delicate than anyone knew or could do anything about.   She was an only child, and her parents were devastated.  She left us much too soon.
