I found out on February 23, 2018, that Gene had died. The owner of Gene's home said he bought it from Gene's estate about a year ago. He said that Gene died of cancer. I will attempt to get more information and add to this...
Gene and I were very close friends throughout HS and afterwards. We would get a card game up with some of the guys, went out shooting pool, and used to meet during the day in a tavern in Muskego and played cribbage. I worked second shift and he worked a split shift, so we could meet around noon......About 1983, something must have happened, because he pretty much dropped out of sight and contact....He was personally invited to our class reunions (by me) but would never attend. He was a very smart guy and loved to fish....We used to have a lot of fun...Both Gene and his twin, Judy, died way too young....
Gene and I hunted and fished together and had a lot of laughs playing golf. He also was a catcher for me in the Puddles Baseball League. He had a good sense of humor. The notice of his death brings out a lot of fond memories starting with first grade. It hardly seems possible.
This photo shows Gene and me developing film from our all-night photo shoot of a lunar eclipse. It was a sub-zero night, but we thawed out and had a lot of fun.
Being a latecomer to Muskego (sophomore year) and pretty much a recluse to begin with, I didn't get to know many of my classmates. Gene was one of the few I did know. Wish I'd gotten to know him (and the rest of my class) better. Sorry to hear about his passing.
