Walter Sherman Weeks Jr, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma after a valiant, hard fought battle with cancer. He was born November 10, 1959 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Walter Sherman Weeks Sr and Zenna Curran Weeks. Walter attended public schools and graduated from Muskogee High School with the class of 1977. He married the love of his life, Leslie “Denise” Snyder on July 4, 1981 in Las Vegas, NV. They shared more than 34 years of life and marriage together.

Walter worked for Sealy Corporation in Ft. Worth, TX and later for Georgia Pacific from which he retired in 2014 after 16 years of service.

He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing chess as he was a member of the Muskogee Chess Club. He also enjoyed playing foosball and other board games but his greatest love was spending time with his family. Walter loved going on adventures with his family and spent most of his free time planning the next big outing. Late in life, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids. He was very proud of taking them on their first trip to Disney World in his last weeks.

Walter was known and loved by many and he will be truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by his special grandmother, “Mema”, Tilda Curran.

Walter is survived by his wife, Leslie “Denise” Weeks, of the home; daughter, Sarah Hoffman and husband Joey of Broken Arrow, OK; son, Ryan Weeks and wife Windy of Tahlequah, OK; parents, Walter and Zenna Weeks of Muskogee; brother, Sherman Weeks and wife Linda of Rochester, NY; sister, Diana Kirkpatrick and husband Chuck of Stigler, OK; grandchildren, Gabriel Hoffman and Evelyn Hoffman; numerous loved cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

Funeral services honoring Walter’s life will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2015 at Timothy Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Snyder and Chaplain Thomas Mefford officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Ryan Weeks, Sherman Weeks, Gary Snyder, Bryan Shed, Wesley Harness, and Joey Hoffman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Gabriel Hoffman.
