Wyly Alexander McDowell was born July 14, 1959 in Muskogee, Oklahoma and with his family by his side , he closed his eyes to take his Lord and Savior by the hand on Friday May 1, 2009.
Wyly was the son of Wyly McDowell Sr. and Frances Webb-Criner. He received his formal education in Muskogee, graduation with the Muskogee High School class of 1977. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Elaine Brown McDowell, currently in Albuquerque, NM.
He was employed at Proform of Muskogee until his health began to fail.
Wyly excelled in woodwork, a trade he mastered in school. He loved sports, and basketball was his favorite. He was a person who loved playing dominos, poker and being with his friends.
Wyly was preceded in death by his father, sister; Jocklene Webb and brother Johnathan Webb.
Those he waits for in heaven are his mother, Frances Criner of Muskogee, OK; four daughters, Wyletla (Dee) and Wendy (Pooh) both of Wagoner, OK, Walanta (Pinky) of Virginia, and Wyleshia of Muskogee, OK; three brothers, Toby Webb (Helen) of Muskogee, OK, Ricky Boulware of San Diego, CA, and Donald Criner (Kaye) of Muskogee, OK; sister Donna Criner (Shelvin) of Lake Charles, LA. A special niece who was like a sister to him, LaQuinta “Cherry” Webb of Muskogee, OK. His aunt Peggie Desmuke (Muriel) of Muskogee, OK, along with seven grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The home going service for Wyly will be on Saturday, May 9th, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Mitchum, Sr. officiating. He will rest eternally in Booker T. Washington Cemetery. The visitation hours will be today from 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.. Services are under the direction of Ragsdale Funeral Center.
