Michael Kent Brewster, 60, of Perkins, OK was born July 21, 1959 in Muskogee, OK to Keith and Doenye Brewster and passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 in Stillwater, OK with his loving wife by his side.
He received his formal education at Muskogee High School, and graduated with the class of 1977.
He was a resident of the Muskogee area most of his life. He served his community as a firefighter and EMT early in his adult years. Mike was the first in Muskogee to receive a National Certification for EMT. Mike was very competitive from a young age until his death. From go-carts, mini-bikes, nitro dragsters to his most recent, mini-pullers (tractors). Mike was an avid fan of the Chili Bowl Nationals and he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Mike loved the Lord and attended the Christian Church of Perkins, OK.
At the end of 2016, he was reconnected with his high school sweetheart. Things took off quickly and after 40 years from the first time they dated, they tied the knot. Mike was united in marriage to Sherry Brewster on September 22, 2018 in Perkins, OK. Mike and Sherry enjoyed many laughs and happy moments together, but most of all they enjoyed sharing their love for Jesus together.
Mike will be missed by many, but mostly by his loving wife, Sherry.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike is lovingly survived by his wife, Sherry Brewster of the home; daughters, Sarah of Colorado, Robin of Norman, and Natalie of Stillwater; brother, Ray Brewster of Tulsa, OK; extended family and
many friends.
A visitation with the family present, will be 5PM-8PM Monday, June 8, 2020 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Mike’s life with family only, will be held 10AM Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Gibson with Rev. Howard Faerber and Pastor Glen Little officiating.
Committal prayers and interment will follow at 11:30AM at Citizens Cemetery for all friends and family, with Greg Shamblin, John Vogt, Mike Russell, Bruce McKown, and Daniel Nevitt serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearer will be Bill Scott.
A secondary Memorial Service will be held at 10AM Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the First Christian Church in Perkins, OK.
If you choose to attend the service, please be considerate of the high-risk population that will attend and wear a mask if you are able. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org, in Michael Kent Brewster’s name.
