Rodney Nunley VIEW PROFILE

Rodney Fred Nunley

Mr. Rodney Fred Nunley, after 48 years, won a "Championship for Christ" on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Rodney Nunley aka…”NunLoc” and “Rod” was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 8, 1967. He was son of the late Fred Nunley and Eunice Mackey-Nunley.

As God holds us tight and loves us long, we reflect on the privilege of having Rodney in our lives. Rodney accepted Christ at an early age and was a long time member of Dean’s Chapel Baptist Church. During the past few months, Rodney was known to share scriptures or words of encouragement on his Facebook posts. His last post on January 18, 2016 was, “Many people have difficulty trusting God because of past hurts. But God is not like people who’ve hurt us. We can trust him”. This is a true testimony of the type of person Rodney was, and his relationship with God.

Rodney attended Muskogee High School and is a proud graduate of the class of 1985. He was known for his skills on the basketball court, and in October of 2015, he was inducted into the Muskogee Hall of Fame because of the legacy he left behind. Not only did Rodney love the Muskogee Roughers, but you couldn’t tell him anything about those Oklahoma Sooners. He was TRUE fan.

Rodney was the proud father to a daughter, Trinity Saffold and a son, Rodney Nunley, Jr (RJ). When RJ was in town, he served as his daddy’s running buddy, and never failed to spill the beans about the adventures they had experienced or the words Rodney had said, to both Aunt Chelle and Mawmaw when they returned home.

Rodney never met a stranger and was loved by everyone he came in contact with. He left a lasting impression because there was destined to be a memory of your encounter with him. Because of Rodney, we’ll all have stories that we will cherish and share for many years to come.

In January of this year, Rodney suffered a severe brain injury. While in rehab he suffered another injury and was unable to fight back. On June 28th, God decided to remove his pain and suffering and call his son home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Nunley. Rodney leaves to cherish his memory; mother, Eunice; sister, Rachelle; Daughter, Trinity and Son, Rodney Jr. He also leaves a host of family members, and several friends.

The Hour of Reflection for Mr. Nunley will commence on Saturday morning, July 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Timothy Baptist Church, 5530 West Okmulgee Avenue in Muskogee. Pastor Kelly Payne is the gracious host Pastor and Reverend Larry H. Smith, Sr., Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Booker T.
