 Michael "John" Smart, 45, of Muskogee died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. John was born March 21, 1967, in Muskogee, OK to Jim and Betty (Campbell) Smart. He attended Muskogee public schools graduating in 1985. He attended Northeastern State University. John was an oil baron and, except for a couple of years in Hawaii, he was a lifelong resident of Muskogee. He was a member of the Cherokee Nation. John enjoyed going to the lake and boating, trail rides, playing football and was a history buff. He was also an avid animal lover and especially loved his dog Kid Rock. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. John is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Betty Smart; son, Samuel "Sammy" Smart; grandparents, Jay and Alma Campbell and John and Edna Smart. John is survived by his daughter, Grace Smart and her mother, Dawn Eversole of Muskogee, OK; brothers, Harley Cowles of Muskogee, James Cowles and wife, Penny of Muskogee; Special friend, Mary Perry of Muskogee; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Service will be held March 30 at 10 am at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Council Hill Cemetery. Family links: Parents: Betty Louise Campbell Smart (1933 - 2011) |
