On November 25, Thanksgiving day, 1966, a baby boy was born to Martha A. Brown-Smith and Buck A. Smith in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  They named him Michael Edwin Smith and he was the youngest of four children.

Michael received his early education in the Muskogee Public School system.  At an early age, he was baptized by his grandfather, the late Reverend E. V. Brown.  Michael worked several jobs during his life, but his passion was boxing.  He was a semi-pro boxer along with his brother, Buck.  Michael was affectionately referred to as "Big Mike" or "D-Bo".  He loved his family and friends and was a joy to be around.  He loved to sing and dance and was always a positive person.

In 2012, Michael was diagnosed with cancer.  Every punch cancer threw, Michael threw one back, being the fighter he was.  On Monday morning, October 9, 2017, "the Bell rang in the last round of the fight" at 5:23 A.M. for the Champ.  God reached down from Heaven, as Michael threw his final punch, giving his his Crown and whispering " this is our final round.

Those who left the fight before Michael, were his parents, grandparents two aunts and six uncles.

He leaves to celebrate his "Victory";  his son, Kwinton McVay, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;  three daughters, Shantell Scott, Lubbock, Texas, Bryttny Mustin, Oklahoma City and Ne'Arria Phillips, Tulsa, Oklahoma;  fifteen grandchildren;  one brother, Buck A. Smith [Letha];  three sisters, Beverly Taylor [Glen], Lucrettia Givens, all of Oklahoma City,  and Lisa Smith-Masters, Muskogee, OKlahoma;  three Aunts, Alberta Moore, Oakland, California, Mary Durham and Alice Smith, both of Muskogee, Oklahoma;  two Uncles, Lee Brown, Butler, Georgia and Uriel Brown, Muskogee, Oklahoma;  and a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Service of Memory for "Big Mike" will be on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the most Holy sanctuary of the Antioch Church, 500 West Broadway.  Dr. Marlon J. Coleman, Senior Pastor will officiate and Reverend Walter Brown, Jr., will give the Eulogy.
