 Marie Vasquez-Clopton, 48, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015. She was born January 30, 1967 in Del Rio, Texas to Miguel Vasquez and Irma Hortencia Alvarado Vasquez. Marie was a graduate of Muskogee High School with the class of 1985. She married the love of her life, John Richard Clopton, on August 6, 1993 in Muskogee. They shared more than 24 years of life and marriage together. Marie loved nothing more than being a homemaker and caretaker for her family. She will always be remembered as a wonderful cook, dear friend, and a fabulous artist. Marie was loved by many and will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel and Irma Hortensia Vasquez; her brother-in-law, James Henley. Marie is survived by her loving husband, John; her brothers, Juan Silva of Muskogee, Bill Vasquez of Largo, FL; her sisters, Sofia Henley of Muskogee, Ethel Harmon and husband Douglas of Catoosa, OK; niece, Darby Marie Harmon; nephews, Ryan Ortiz and Emily Box, Cole Henley; great niece, Sofia Marie Ortiz; mother-in-law, Betty Landrum and husband Melvin; father-in-law, Junior Clopton and wife Deno; brothers-in-law, Loyd Clopton, Glen Clopton, Jim Clopton, and Mark Hoyd; sisters-in-law, Tina Clopton and Dorena Storm; her cats who were her furry kids, Oscar and Campo; many other special family members and friends. The family requests memorials be made to Coins 4 Critters, P.O. Box 2466, Muskogee, Oklahoma 74402-2466. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A memorial service honoring Marie’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Wickinzer and Saundra Smith-Moore officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Seay, Doug Harmon, Mark Hoyd, Ryan Ortiz, Chris Washington, Cole Henley, Loyd Clopton, Glen Clopton, and Johnny Grantham. |
