Derry Lee Smith, 42, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away suddenly on
Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Eastar Health System Muskogee. Derry
was born June 24, 1971 in Muskogee, the son of Michael D. and Connie
Sue (McEntyre) Smith. In 1989, he graduated from Muskogee High School
where he was a band member and was able to play for President Ronald
Reagan in Oklahoma City. He had worked at the Castle and Wal-Mart.
He was an active member Muskogee First Church of the Nazarene where he
participated in the “Bible Quizzing” and where he received the Caravan
“Phineas F. Bresee Award”. Derry was an excellent cook, enjoyed
working with computers, reading and fishing. He had a love for
animals and volunteered with the Broken Arrow Animal Sanctuary.
He is survived by his parents, Michael D. and Connie Sue Smith of
Muskogee; a brother, Gregory Allen Smith and wife, Kimberly of
Seligman, MO; nephew, Kastor Walter, grandmother, Susie McEntyre of
Muskogee and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at
Muskogee First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Monty Nichols
officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery.
