He was born October 17, 1943 in Dublin, GA, a son of Carolyn Ripple and the late Joseph L. Ripple, Sr. Joel was a 1962 graduate of Myrtle Beach High School were he was a member of the State Championship Basketball Team, a graduate of the University of Tennessee and attended Duke University where he played football. He loved sailing and became the first Hobbie Cat Dealership In Myrtle Beach and did ocean rescue.

Harold "Dwaine" Jackson. Jr. (1963)
I remember Joel as a great football and basketball player at MBHS. He was in the class 1 year ahead of me. My sympathies go out to all of the Ripple family members.
