As some of you already know, David Ward has been battling lung cancer for the past year and a half. Unfortunately, David passed away last Thursday, April 12, 2001 while at his home. He is survived by his wife (Charla), three children, two grandchildren, and numerous other relatives. Please keep David's family in your thoughts and prayers. Should you wish to send a card, the address is Rt 3, Box 45, Huntington, TX 75949
I guess you've read the email about David by now. I had just talked to David a couple of weeks ago. He sounded weaker than he had during our previous conversations but still joked a lot. He told me that he had lost his beer belly--that he wasn't able to eat cuz the radiation had burned his throat so much. He had gone from 230 pounds to 155! We were planning to meet for lunch soon. He was having far more bad days than good lately. I told you earlier that the doctors had given him 6 more months. That would have been August, so his death came sooner than expected. I'm thankful that we had a chance to reconnect as friends. We had fun reminiscing about old times and he remembered every little detail about many things!
I'm sending his wife a card today. Although she doesn't know me, he had told her about me. David's 2 oldest children are in their 20's and are from his 1st marriage. He had been married to Charla for 20 years and their daughter Hannah is only 9 yrs old. She's a third grader and sounds very sweet on the phone.
