Henry Poskey
Henry Lamar Poskey of Nacogdoches passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, in Nacogdoches at the age of 60 years, 1 month, and 7 days. He was born November 22, 1957, in Nacogdoches to parents Jesse Gabriel and Lela Mae (Owens) Poskey.
Mr. Poskey married his loving wife, Mary, on October 31, 2008. She would describe him as a romantic as he would text her sweet messages daily. They had a “picture perfect romance.”
Henry was a gentle, kind man with a calming personality. He was never angry or mad. He loved hunting, fishing, and photography, often sneaking pictures of Mary when she wasn’t expecting it. Although he loved his work and never missed a day unless he had to, Henry was looking forward to his retirement so he could focus more on his fishing and other hobbies. He loved his late model car he named “Fireball.” He also had a special place in his heart for his dog Sadie.
Mr. Poskey was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene (Buddy) Thacker and Kenneth Leon Thacker; and sister, Evelyn Louise Moseley.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Poskey of Nacogdoches; brother, Gilbert David Thacker and wife Carol of Humble; sisters, Sue Poskey Barrentine and husband Kevin of Kingwood, Nadine Ellerbe and husband Thomas of Huffman, Rachel McGee and husband Robert of Livingston, and Helen Thacker of Nacogdoches; children, Preston Poskey of Houston, Jessica Poskey of New York, Kyle Lawson of Cushing, and Kayla Criddle and husband Justin of Livingston; 7 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers at Parker Hannifin.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel officiated by Bro. Freddie Bird. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
