I remember Karen very well. She was such a beautiful girl. I don't think she realized how pretty or nice she really was. I loved her smile and she was kind and nice to everyone.

Karen was a great friend from junior high until her death last year. We were in the NHS band clarinet section, so we went to all the football games and had to change out of our uniforms for the after game dances. Summers during high school she was a very competent carhop at the A&W. We tooled the stands in her grandmothers old Studebaker, swam at Lucky Peak, floated down the Boise River.
We saw each other from time to time through the years and talked every few months. She liked to call me in Chicago in the winter to tell me the temperature in Albuquerque or Phoenix. I miss those calls.
