Dianne Burkhalter (Geri) - Class Of 1960

Docia Dianne Geri passed away on Oct. 31, 2014, age 72, at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa.

Born Sept. 2nd, 1942, in Sonoma, she grew up in Napa, graduating from Napa High School in 1960. She went on to become a highly respected and adored nurse in the community for 40 years, bringing professionalism and warmth to all she did at Queen of the Valley and the practice of Dr. Stephen Spreiter. Her zeal for life provided her with lasting friendships and a full heart. While earning her pilot's license she met and married Bob Geri. Together they spent 32 happy years. After traveling the world, spending 11 years in Illinois, two in Queenlands, Australia, six in Seattle, and eight in Rio Vista, she always considered Napa home.

Docia, who went by Dianne in her youth, loved to laugh and tease, perhaps as a result of having two older brothers. She loved to go dancing. She was impeccably put together, well-mannered, and always a lady. She loved any good novel about a strong women. She threw fabulous dinner parties, enjoyed good wine, and made marvelous pies with a flaky crust that held together perfectly. She soaked in the sun often and never forgot a birthday. Her home was like her life, cheerful and organized. She enjoyed cross-stitching and creating dozens of sentimental pictures over the years. Church and faith gave her purpose, strength, a community and comfort.

Widow to Robert Clark Geri, she is survived by their loving daughters, Jennifer Ann McGill and Anne Geri Butcher, as well as their children Joel and Ethan Erickson, and Charlotte and Elizabeth Butcher respectively. Her brother, Larry Burkhalter, also survives her. She was preceded in death by parents Authur and Anna Lois Burkhalter and brother Gene Burkhalter.

She was a special lady to all that knew her and will truly be missed. A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov 8th at the Yountville Community Church. Charitable donations to QueensFoundation.org and curehht.org/donate are welcome in her honor.
