Jean Cochrane (Hall) - Class Of 1929

Lifelong Napa resident Jean Charlesworth Hall died May 11, 2010, in Napa. Born Helen Jean Cochrane on July 19, 1911, to John and Helen Greene Cochrane, Jean attended Napa schools and graduated from Napa High School in 1929. She then went to Armstrong Business College in Berkeley and graduated in 1931.

Jean married I.E. “Doc” Charlesworth in 1931, and they had three children. Doc died in 1969.

Over the years she had several jobs, including bank teller, secretary for the First United Methodist Church where she had been a member since 1923, office manager/bookkeeper for 15 years at Murdock’s Housewares and bookkeeper for Dr. Herbert Waechtler for 15 years.

Jean married John M. Hall in 1984. They enjoyed traveling and had many good times together. John died in 1994.

Jean had been a patient at Piner’s Nursing Home for the past six years, where she received excellent care.

She is survived by daughters Sally Hayse of Cupertino and Sandra Bollinger of Napa, son John Charlesworth of Napa, sister Margaret Erickson, sister-in-law Helen Cochrane, as well as by seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two sisters, Evangeline Leach and Ruth Yates, and two brothers, John and Donald Cochrane.

A private family graveside service was held at Tulocay Cemetery, led by her son-in-law, Reverend Erwin E. Bollinger.
