Alice L. Yeamans (Ward) - Class Of 1948

Alice Ward

Surrounded by her loving husband of 64 years, and family, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother Alice Ward passed away peacefully on July 24, 2015. She was 84 years old.

Alice was born on September 29, 1930 in Napa Ca. Alice graduated from Napa High School in 1948 and went on to earn her nursing degree from Providence Nursing College in Oakland, CA in 1951. Alice devoted 30 years to her nursing career, working for Dr. Barber of Napa, Parks Victory Hospital, Queen of the Valley Hospital and Highland Convalescent Home.

Alice married Orville Fred Ward on June 22, 1951. Alice and Fred raised four children in Napa. Both Alice and Fred are avid San Francisco Giants baseball fans. Alice’s passion and skill for quilting, needlepoint and embroidery was ever present in her hobby work and gifts. She was a member of Ladies of the Evening quilting group and Napa Valley Quilters. If Alice wasn’t quilting, she was enjoying a book, or could be found in the kitchen baking.

Alice is survived by her husband Fred Ward, sister Beverly and Robert Keiser of Concord, son Richard and Debbie Ward of Napa, daughter Nancy Greenwell of Napa, son David and Lesa Ward of Napa and daughter Denise Gibb of Napa. Alice is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Alice’s grandchildren brought her some of her greatest joys in life.

A service celebrating Alice’s life will be held at Tulocay Cemetery on Monday, August 3 at 1:00 p.m. Words of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.tulocaycemetery.com

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Napa Salvation Army.
