Wilma ‘Billie’ Lillian Huntley
1918-2013
Wilma Lillian Huntley passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 2013, with her family at her side. “Billie,” as she was known by her family and friends, was born March 24, 1918, to Jules and Alice Banchero (Smith) in San Francisco.
She later moved to the Napa Valley with her parents. She met Benjamin B. Huntley while working at JC Penney as a bookkeeper. They married in 1942. Ben preceded her in death in 1976.
Billie is survived by her son, Michael R. Huntley and his wife, Merle, and her daughter, Patricia D. Mitchell and her husband, Wes, all residing now in Casa Grande, Ariz. She has five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren living in California and Colorado.
Billie was active in the California Cattlemen’s Association Solano-Napa Cowbelles during the 1950s and ’60s and later in the 80s with the Queen of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary in the Napa Valley.
Community Projects. Inc., a Napa Valley community service organization, was dear to her heart. She volunteered there until her move to Casa Grande in 2005, where she continued her hobbies of making greeting cards, reading and playing cards with her friends at Palm Creek.
A celebration of life was held Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort in the Santan Room.
