Garry S. Saxon
Garry S. Saxon died at home on April 16, 2013, in Napa. He was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Bremerton, Wash., to Huntington and Ruth Saxon.
Garry came to Napa when he was 12 months old. After graduating from Napa High School in 1938, he served in the U.S. Navy on an LST in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 31 years, retiring as a nuclear engineer.
During his 67-year marriage to Berta Saxon, they shared many adventures, including living 16 years on a sailboat.
He is survived by his wife, Berta Saxon of Napa; children, Greg Saxon of Napa, and Maggie Saxon Richter of Arizona; grandchildren, Jayne Howard and Tim Knight; and great-grandchildren, Shelby, Kaia and Abegayle.
A graveside service with military honors will be at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif., on Monday, April 22, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. Condolences to the family may be left at ClaffeyandRota.com.
